Volunteering in a Farm - Family Farm Experience

Nadia, Robert and their son born in 2021 are from Switzerland. Since 2016 they have lived in Sardinia for 6 months of the year. they had several experiences as volunteers in natural agriculture and permaculture. It helped them discover the island and its inhabitants. In 2023 they bought a piece of land covered by Mediterranean scrub. Their goal is to live there in autonomy.

What the volunteer has to do?

25 hours per week of the following:

✔ Painting and Decorating

✔ Building and Repairing

✔ Gardening

✔ Farming

Requirements:

✔ Fluent English or French

✔ Over 22 years old

✔ Accepts Solo & Couples

About the Program:

At this program you get to live a lovely family and help them build their dream house and their dream land.
They live in a cute house with a big spacious garden next to the beach. It's literally less than 1 minute walking from the beach.

The land that you will volunteer in and help the family with is based in a different location from the house.

You decide what time you wake up in the morning the night before with Robert and Nadia. But usually it's not super early, around 8:00 and 9:00 to have a quick fast coffee and basic breakfast that you can prepare yourself and then start going to the land.

There is 2 parts for going to the land:
1. the first part is going by car midway through the street until your reach the mountains.
2. the second part is either you continue with the car to reach the land (10 minutes by car) or you hike up about 20-25 minutes.

Either ways it's counts from your working hours and if you get to hike up that a good morning exercise and the scenery is beautiful.

The working chore's schedule changes everyday. basically Robert tells you what he needs to do today and you start helping doing it.
You get a break after few hours to have lunch with the Family (like a picnic lunch). it's so amazing to eat in the nature and chat and chill after that a little bit.

After the lunch break, you keep working for more few hours and then go back home. Also if you have the car then you go right away, otherwise you start walking down until the street and then continue home with the car.

Work usually ends at 16:00 and then you are free to do what you want. basically we chilled t the beach and swan few times with everyone. 

After having a shower, you can help with cooking and preparing the table and then you all eat together and chill and chat.

You get to have 2 days off during the week. Robert and Nadia give you the option to do something with them or do whatever you want.
they will take you to different events, different hikes, different beaches. There are a lot of thing to do with them.

This experience is special and different, because you can learn a lot from Robert and Nadia. about permaculture and about their life and their travels and journeys. It's always lovely to talk to them and share with them anything you want, they accept you and listen to you and take care of you as if you are really part of the family.

Of Course, Sardinia is an amazing beautiful island, and the best part it's not full of tourists because it will be an off season while you volunteer there. So will you have all the beach for yourself.

🏠 Accommodation:

• You will have your own room in a house next to the beach. The land where you will work is on a mountain with a beautiful view. It is in the middle of nature. 

🚫 Rules:

• No drugs.
• The Family provides Vegetarian meals. you can ask them to take you to the super market to buy food for yourself if you want.

📆 Registration Dates:

Program Availability: October - March

February:
2 volunteer is needed for the beginning of February
1 volunteer (or a couple) from mid of February

October/November/December:
2 volunteers each month only.  

• Days off: 2 days per week.
• Minimum period for volunteering: 1 week (Preference is given to those who choose a longer period)

💳 Registration Fees:

• $500 - HomeAwe Fees.

Regarding registration fees, flight costs and living expenses in Switzerland, this opportunity is invaluable. A regular tourist trip would undoubtedly cost more. Here, the experiences you will have with HomeAwe are unique. And the daily life is relatively affordable.

📋 Registration Process:

1. Sign Up through the program's link down below - your details and answers to the questions will be reviewed and based on that, your acceptance will be determined. (It is preferable not to hesitate in providing clear and explicit answers to the questions without any sense of shyness. The clearer, more spontaneous and heartfelt your answers are, the higher the likelihood of your acceptance).
If we do not contact you within 2 weeks, it means that you have not been accepted.
If you are accepted, we will communicate with you via email to arrange the payment of the registration fees to reserve your spot in the program.

2. After you Sign Up, you'll receive an email that has a link to pay the registration fees to HomeAwe.

3. Have a personal interview with HomeAwe for introduction and further explanation of details.
After the interview, your acceptance will be official 100%. If, for some reason, you are not accepted after the interview, the registration fee will be refunded on the same day.
Once you are officially accepted 100%, with or without an interview, there is no refund for the registration fees, even in case of an emergency. The fees will be retained until your participation in another program later on if you cancel your participance a month before at least. if you cancel your participation for any reason as a last minute call during the last month then there is no refund and there will be no spots in other programs later on.

4. After applying all the steps before you will be registered officially (all your details will be provided to the host) and  we will provide you with the host's WhatsApp number / email to communicate with them directly, to arrange your arrival day (flights) and to get to know you better before you arrive.
