 What the volunteer has to do?

16 hours per week of the following:

✔ Help in teaching deprived communities

As a volunteer teaching English in Brazil, you will be providing lessons or tutoring. You will have the opportunity to teach people of all ages, both children and adults. Depending on your individual interests and skills, and on the needs of the local staff.

Volunteers will mostly teach deprived communities in the favelas. Being able to speak and write in English has become a critical skill for locals. However, schools which teach English are very costly, and most from the favelas are unable to attend the schools. The local NGO strives to let these communities have a fair chance as well, through their intensive English language courses. Such courses are highly sought after, and the local NGO needs as much assistance by volunteers in order to be able to teach English to more locals.
Help the communities improve their way of life by paving the way to better education, and ultimately, increased opportunities at work.

⏰ Volunteering per week from 16:00-19:00

• Days off: 3 days per week.
• Minimum Period for volunteering: 1 week
• Maximum period for volunteering: 1 month (which can be renewed in specific situations, according to the need and availability of vacancies)

✔ Shared Dorms: You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other travelers.
✔ Fast Internet Access: High-speed internet for you to work remotely.
✔ Use the Equipped Kitchen: Feel free to use kitchen and make your own delicious food.
✔ Free Laundry: You can use the laundry room freely.
✔ Free Hiking Tours: They'll take you on excursions and hikes around town for free.

• Shared rooms and bathrooms - males in a shared accommodation and females in another shared accommodation.

• Sometimes due to the large number of volunteers, rooms are shared between males and females.

The average temperature is 26°C to 30°C all year round.
August to February are usually the drier months, and during the months March to July there may be a rain shower or two.
Along the coast the humidity is relatively high and the sun is bright. The sea breeze usually makes spending time by the sea very comfortable.
